Dune bashing is safe with a licensed operator, trained safari drivers and properly equipped vehicles. It isn't suitable during pregnancy, with back, neck or heart conditions, or for children under 3 on shared trips.

Yes, you can do a desert safari in summer, and prices are calmer and camps quieter. Afternoons reach 40-45°C, so the morning safari or an evening trip that starts closer to sunset is more comfortable. Evenings at camp are warm but pleasant after dark.

Desert Safari During Ramadan
Desert safaris run throughout Ramadan. Dune bashing, sandboarding, camel rides and dinner continue, but some entertainment changes: belly dance and music are usually paused, while Tanoura and fire shows often continue. Dinner is served after sunset (iftar time).

You can enjoy the desert without dune bashing. A private car can take a flat route to the camp, or you can join the camp for the camel ride, henna, dinner and shows only.

Evening safari: pickup 2:00-2:30 PM, drop-off 9:00-9:30 PM (about 7 hours). Morning: 7:30-8:00 AM to about noon (4 hours). Overnight: 2:00 PM to about 8:00 AM (16 hours). The desert is about 45 minutes from Downtown Dubai.

If you're staying in Dubai, book in Dubai. The Lahbab red dunes are 45 minutes away and have the most camp choice. Abu Dhabi's deserts (like Liwa) are vast and spectacular but 2.5-3 hours from Dubai, so they suit an overnight trip.

Dune Buggy & Quad Rules: Age, Licence, Safety
You don't need a driving licence to drive a dune buggy or quad in our desert area. Buggy drivers must be 18+ (younger guests ride as passengers). Adult quads are 16+, and kids' quads are for about 6+ with a guide. Bring an ID. Helmets and goggles are provided.
