Desert Safari with a Baby or Toddler: What's Allowed

Babies and toddlers can join the desert camp, the camel ride (with a parent) and sandboarding at the bottom of a dune. UAE safety rules don't allow children under 3 on shared dune bashing. The easy fix is a private car with a gentle drive, or skipping the dune bashing.

• Under 3: Camp, camel ride with a parent, henna, shows. No shared dune bashing. Private gentle drive possible
• 3-10: Everything, at the child rate. Kids' quads from around 6+
• 11+: Adult rate. Double quads as a passenger, buggy passenger

Tips

• The morning safari fits nap schedules better
• Bring a baby carrier. Strollers don't work in sand
• Pack snacks, wipes, a hat and a light blanket for the evening
• Book private so you can stop whenever you need to

Why the under-3 rule exists

Dune bashing involves sudden drops and side-slides. Car seats and adult seat belts don't protect toddlers properly on dunes, so UAE operators don't take under-3s on shared dune bashing. On a private car, the driver can take a smooth, flat route to the camp so your little one still enjoys the camel, the sand and the shows.

A toddler-friendly plan

• Book the private morning safari (AED 799 for up to 6)
• Pickup around 7:30 AM, when it's cool and before nap time
• Gentle drive, camel ride with a parent, sandboarding sitting down
• Back at the hotel by 11:30 AM

Can a 1-year-old go on a desert safari?

Yes, to the camp and activities, but not on shared dune bashing. Book a private car and ask for a gentle drive, or skip it.

Is the desert safari free for babies?

Yes. Children under 3 are free.
